Happy Canada Day!

To celebrate our first Canada day in the Capital, we met some friends at the Canada Day in Kanata festivities at Walter Baker Park. We took the kiddies on some rides, played games, ate BeaverTails and enjoyed the sun...

Kelly chopped off eight inches of her hair at the Jask Salon & Day Spa booth to donate to the Canadian Cancer Society...

We carried on the festivities at a BBQ at Kelly and Patrick's, and then finished up the day with...

fireworks, of course! We gave the kids their baths, put them in PJ's and then let them stay up late to watch the fireworks near home (wish we could have gone to Parliament Hill but we wouldn't have gotten home until waaayyy past the kiddies bedtime - maybe next year).

Although Canada Day was a fun day for us, the kiddies are too young to understand much more than, it is "Canada's birthday" (you can read a bit about the history of Canada Day here). As they grow up I hope they will realize how lucky they are to be living in such a wonderful country...
