fabric fat book swap

I finished my fabric fat book pages recently, that I am swapping with some girlfriends. We didn't really have a lot of rules for our swap {or at least any that I remember following, if we did} other than they were to be 8" high by 9" wide to allow for binding the book on the left side} ...

The theme was "a touch of whimsy"...

I wanted my pages to be kind of messy and put together in a child-like way {which also conveniently disguises the fact that I obviously cannot remember how to sew in a straight line...}

I used some vintage children's book pages, sheet music and bingo markers...

Home is where the green felt heart is...

and every painted blue cloud has a silver lining...

And cherry prints and pom-pom fringe are just whimsy at it's best...aren't they?

Renee and Stephanie have already posted photos of their fabric pages on thier blogs {click on their names to check them out} and Mellisa and Katie were in the swap too. All the pages are so wonderful and whimsical...just like the ladies that created them. Now I just need to create a cover to house my pages {and I will post the completed book soon}. Thanks girls!

i love this...

Turn up your volume...and put my I know you find it annoying but I don't care Playlist on pause {pink box near the bottom right of my page} so you don't hear my songs overlapping the video {this explanation is for my less-techy family members, you know who you are}...

And because I am less-techy too, I have no idea why the right hand side of the video is cut off, and I have no clue how to fix it. But the video is still fun, anyway.

Have I told you how much I love The Sound of Music...?

paul

the peeing boy baby needs some new clothes...

but he has a really great new Sens helmet. When R asked for the peeing boy baby for Christmas 2007, I did not think he would still be so popular with R, for so long. But R still takes care of Paul every day...

{he is SO not going to be happy with me when he is a teenager and I pull out this photo of him and his peeing boy baby...}

some days

my kiddies are the best of friends...
and then other days, not so much...

And don't even get me started about how hard it is to get them to pose for pictures...

But I keep trying. And hopefully, some day soon, I may find the time to scrapbook these...

Happy Day!

easter sunday

You'll wake up on Easter morning
And you'll know that he was there,
When you find those choc'late bunnies
That he's hiding ev'rywhere, oh!

On Easter Sunday, I was woken up by the sound of Miss S unwrapping chocolate eggs...

Did Miss S come running to tell the rest of us that the Easter Bunny had been here? Nope. She came out of her room, saw a trail of eggs {pink and purple eggs} from her room, and one from R's {blue and green eggs}, and sat down to snack!

R quickly got ahead of Miss S on the egg trail, because she kept forgetting her basket. She was too busy eating.

After we slowed down the boy, both kiddies enjoyed an egg hunt together. We were given the rules by R. "No one sits down until we have found all the eggs". This is because last year Mommy almost smooshed an egg that was hidden behind a pillow. {Well, when you wake me up at the crack of dawn...I may need to crash on the couch at some point}!

After a relaxing morning at home, we cleaned up the kiddies {washed the chocolate from Miss S's cheeks}...

When I put Miss S in a dress, R said he also wanted to be fancy, so he dug out his tie {that thing is getting way more use than I thought}...

Renee and her family joined us to celebrate Easter dinner together {why did I not take any photos of our guests?}. It was a great day!

here comes peter cottontail

Hoppin' down the bunny trail...

The kiddies were very spoiled this Easter, as usual, by family. Treats, games and books came from Grandma & Grandpa, Auntie M, and Uncle VW. And this is them opening up gifts from Auntie and Uncle in Winnipeg {this doll that Miss S can color on is adorable}...

Monique and her family came over for dinner on Saturday, and brought us this lovely bit of spring...
Hippity hoppity,
Easter's on it's way...

Or, um, actually it has come and it's almost gone. I'm just enjoying this Easter Monday at home with the kiddies. So here is a last look at some of my Easter decorations, before I pack them away for another year...

Happy Easter!

grandpa will love this...

On the morning of R's first skating lesson, I overheard this conversation between R and K {as R was already putting on his warm layers and jersey even though skating isn't until after school}.

R: Are there going to be side benches where Grandpa can sit when he comes to my skating?
Daddy: Yes, there are benches where he can watch you.
R: That's good, because Grandpa is really old. How old will he be when he comes here to watch me skating?

{I am sure Grandpa can not wait to come and watch R skate, and he will be able to do it soon}

This is the kiddies before thier first official skating lesson, getting ready in "a real dressing room" {from l to r, the other Miss S, R, E and then Miss S}...

and this is two seconds later, when Miss S had her first official fall {but she made it look so graceful}...

This is the kiddies first session of skating lessons, although R has been skating for a couple years {back home, at the lake mostly). Miss S and the other Miss S are technically too young to be in this program {you are supposed to be 3} but you can not say 'no' to these girls, so they were allowed in anyway.

Miss S required a bit of help getting on the ice {it is a non-parented program}...

but by the end of class, she was doing pretty good on her own...

R did great on his own, the whole class. On the way home he kept asking...

"Did you see how fast I skated backwards???"

The kiddies were assessed...

and then divided into small groups based on their ability...
Go R Go...

As I sat there watching the kiddies with K, and Monique and her husband, I realized this is probably just the beginning of my life spent in hockey arenas!
