Our little echo,playdates and other such randomness...

this house has an echo...a very cute little echo. She is almost 2 and talks "a blue streak" to quote my dad (I don't know what that means, so don't ask...). Miss S can repeat anything we say...this can be dangerous, but it is mostly just cute. I cannot believe the amount of words in her vocabulary now...and big ones, too - and she can put 3 or 4 words together to make sentences that we totally understand. She now chats regularly on the phone with Grandma & Grandpa and Auntie M, and pretends to talk on the phone to them when she is playing. When Miss S gets hold of the phone, good luck getting it back from her - she grabs it, gets comfortable in a chair and won't let anyone else talk. Obviously the girl takes after her mommy!

R and Miss S called Grandma & Grandpa and told them all about their play date at an indoor play area yesterday. Yippee!!! We have friends here - well, hopefully they still like us after seeing my little terrors run around the play area...

This little girl needs her own climbing wall...(I did see a house in the area with a climbing wall on the mls...K, maybe we should move...)

Not sure if you can tell from the photo, but R managed to get air every time he hit that bump on the slide. There were times where I thought his legs were going to actually flip over his head. Good times.

I need tickets to go see...

MADONNA in concert! Yes I do. And as luck would have it she is coming to a city near me and just in time for my birthday {note to K: obviously perfect gift idea}. How cool is that! The only Canadian cities she has booked (from concert tour dates just released, today I think) are Vancouver, Toronto and Montreal. What are the chances of me getting tickets for the Montreal show? Because I need to go. And so does my sister, so she needs to fly here and then we can drive to Montreal and see Madonna. This is one of those concerts that I feel I just cannot miss. Anyone else want to go see the material girl???

And just because I love to include photos... Here are some from a quick trip K and I took to Montreal when we were on a house-hunting trip out east. K had some work to do in Montreal so I went along to visit a friend of mine. Montreal is such a beautiful city, I am so excited that it is just a short trip away, so I plan to go there often...

Scrap Etc projects...

as promised, here are a couple of the projects from the Scrap Etc Event. This first book was made in Angelia Wiggington's class, Between the Two. The album is made with chipboard and Basic Grey paper...and the photos are of R and his uncle (my brother)...

And here is the Heidi Swapp project. The pudgy hand in some of the photos belongs to Miss S...and you can see her checking herself out in the mirror book cover too...

I still need to journal in the little spots provided. And coming up you can see a pink file folder with a flower attached to it - in there, I need to add photos of things I see as "challenges" and journal about the challenges on the photos...

my Dad left here a day too early...

because yesterday after K took him to the airport, we went here...

and visited the Hershey factory..

Who knew that we lived so close to a chocolate factory! Unfortunately Hershey will be closing this factory some time this year, (read about it here), so I am happy that we got to see it before it shut down. Hopefully the employees from the plant will be compensated fairly and find new opportunities quickly.

The countryside surrounding our new home is just beautiful, and the small towns are so charming! K and I have decided that we are going to spend some time each week exploring the areas around our new home (and I can share photos here!). Today we packed the kids up and drove to Smiths Falls, located in the heart of the Rideau River and Canal (since I was familiar with the drive after going to the crop there with R on Saturday). I showed K where the shop was that I went to crop at (just so he knows where I will be spending my weekends and his money!)...

We ate lunch, played at a park...

and stopped here before leaving town...

{Note to R: if you are looking for another one...they had a black LP holder here! It was buried pretty deep so I didn't get a good look at it, but I think it is like the one I found in my parent's basement. What color is yours?}

Next we drove to Manotick, which is so cute I think we should have bought a house there...maybe another move K??? Just kidding, I'm not totally crazy. But look at this place...

Manotick is a small village (now considered part of Ottawa) on the Rideau River that has an old-fashioned charm and quaint small town feel. I will definitely be coming back here often to soak in the scenery...

scrapping on National Scrapbook Day this past Saturday! Thanks to a new friend for inviting me to go along with her and her friend. The shop that hosted the crop is just so charming (as is the shop owner herself!). I will definitely be going back to this shop...it was a great day!

i am so looking forward to...

finally seeing this movie when it comes out on May 30. I hardly ever get to movies anymore but I have been waiting for this one. I loved, loved, loved the Sex and the City show (I'm sure I've seen every episode thanks to a friend I worked with that had all the seasons on DVD)!

I'm also looking forward to scrapbooking at a crop tomorrow on National Scrapbooking Day (seriously, it deserves it's own day...). Just need to go through my stash tonight to find something to take with me to work on. It will be good to get back into creating...and to have some girl time!

And I'm looking forward to my Dad getting to do something fun tomorrow with my kids. Since arriving here earlier this week he has really only seen the inside of my house and the inside of my car. He has been helping me with the kids while we run around trying to organize my life (ie get new driver's license, have out of province car inspections done, register the cars, get prov health care cards, hang curtains, unpack, unpack, unpack...). Tomorrow K, my Dad and the kiddies are going to be tourists and enjoy our new city.
