1000 games

Last night I celebrated Alfredsson's 1000th game with all the Sens fans at Scotiabank Place. It is an awesome accomplishment to have played 1000 games in the NHL, and all with the same team. And to be the Sens all time leader in goals, and points, as well as the longest serving current team Captain too. It was great to see all the fans wearing their red Alfie t-shirts and giving him a huge standing ovation {there was a t-shirt for every fan on their seat}.

R is a big Alfie fan, and he loves to watch all the Sens games lately. While I was at the game thinking R was at home snug in bed, he was really convincing Grandma to let him stay up late to watch the game! It was a fun night and it was the last game of the regular season

and now I can't wait to see the Sens in the playoffs!

go sens go?

Last week at Scotiabank Place.
The only time the Flames play in Ottawa this season.

{All my photos on this post were turned into 'poloroids' using Poladroid}

Oh, the dilemma.
Who should I cheer for?

I took my Dad and we sat just a few rows from the ice.
K took a few of our friends too.
Uncle VW texted to say the Flames were going to "destroy the Sens".
But they did not.

It was a great game.

I cheered for both teams.
Secretly.

In the end, I was happy the Sens won!

{Although I did really love to see Iginla and Kiprusoff again}
{And I am looking forward to watching Iggy play in the Olympics}

go canada go

It is very exciting having the World Junior Championship in Ottawa right now...

Good times if you are a hockey fan...

{That is us enjoying one of the Team Canada games at Scotiabank Place- taken with my little camera, so not a great photo!}

kid stuff

This past weekend was full of good times for the kiddies. On Saturday, R was invited to a birthday party for one of the little girls in his class. When I left him at the party, Miss S somehow managed to get herself invited too! While I was still at the front door trying to convince R to go in and have fun, Miss S wrangled an invite in, promptly took off her coat and shoes and headed to the playroom with the big kids. She is full of spunk that one! R eventually went in and had a good time himself, and when I tried to get Miss S to leave she said "I want cake". Really, it's a good thing she's cute, because does she ever come with attitude.

Immediately after the party I took the kiddies to the Sens game {just in time to catch the team Back in Black in their new jersey}...

where they enjoyed their fabulous seats right behind Auld's net...

Jillian, Ian and their kiddies joined us {thanks for taking the photos Jill!} and we had a great time. The kiddies managed to make it through all three periods, and the Sens won!

And the No.1 Star of the Game goes to Baby G...

for not freaking out when his mommy handed him to Sparty. He may be the most mellow baby I have ever seen!

On Sunday R played a little hockey of his own...

at his final floor hockey game of the season. He really ended up being a superstar. Just a short time ago he was too nervous to stay on the gym floor by himself, and now he goes all out, happy to be there, listening to his coaches and following instructions...and scoring goal, after goal, after goal...

And where was Miss S during all of this...

On the sidelines, after being told that she could not play with the big kids. Full of spunk, I tell you.

{Oh, and there were some good times for us really big kids too - after we put the kiddies to bed on Sunday, Jillian and Ian came over for drinks - and maybe some football watching, but us girls weren't really paying attention to that. Yay!, to finally having some quiet time with adults where I can actually have - gasp - a real conversation. Good times!}

the women, the grandma and the works

On Friday, Renee, Diane and I went out for coffee, and saw...

The Women. Loved it. Go see it with your girlfriends.

On Saturday, K and I, and the kiddies went new car shopping to replace our smashed-up soccer mom mini van. We are thinking of replacing it with something less soccer mom mini van-ish... but we are just waiting an eternity for the insurance company in the shopping stage.

Then, the kiddies and I were off to the airport to pick up The Grandma, who is here for a visit. I just had enough time to bring her to our home, give her my cell number and K's, and leave her with Miss S for the night, so I could take R to the Sens game! {Well, she says she misses the kids, and I miss having a baby-sitter, so...}

R and I had so much fun at the Senators game. This was our first time experiencing the Sens/Habs rivalry up close... love it! I have to admit, it is still hard to get used to a new team - I still have loyalty to my team back home, but I am converting to be a Sens fan too. Can't wait to see both my teams play here later in the season - what jersey will I wear...hmmm?!

And tonight, we introduced The Grandma to The Works...yummy! The kiddies wanted her to drink out of a measuring cup...good times!

go sens go

The Senators start the pre-season tonight, playing at Scotiabank Place against the New York Rangers.

It's that time of year again! I will be watching the game on TV {K is at the game but I gave away our other tickets as I don't think Miss S is ready to sit through an entire game}...Go Sens!
